There are many kinds of usb connectors, but the manufacturing process is basically the same, and it can generally be divided into the following four processes: stamping, electroplating, injection molding, assembly, testing and testing
1. Stamping
This part includes the stamping of the housing and the stamping of the usb terminal. The terminal is the core part of the usb connector and the part that contacts with the usb male head or female base. The quality of the terminal material directly affects the performance parameters of the finished product. Our company's products are generally made of high-quality phosphor copper, and the type-c connectors used on smart phones are usually made of phosphor bronze or high-conductivity copper. The terminals of usb connectors are usually stamped from thin copper strips. One end of the large copper strip is fed into the front end of the high-speed stamping machine, and the other end is wrapped into the winding belt through the hydraulic table of the stamping machine, and the copper strip is pulled out by the winding belt wheel and rolled out the finished product.
2. Electroplating
After stamping the terminal, electroplating is performed. In the plating stage, the terminal contact surface or shell of various connectors will be coated with various metal coatings according to the type and use of the product. For example, in order to improve the weldability of terminals, they can be plated with a solder layer; In order to improve the electrical conductivity of the end usb connector, gold is plated on the terminal; In order to improve the corrosion resistance of the USB interface, we can plate it with a nickel layer of different thickness.
3, usb connector plastic core injection
The plastic core injection molding of usb connectors is the process of injecting PBT or LCP plastic melted at high temperature into the metal tire film, and then quickly cooling and forming. This process will occur when the molten plastic core fails to fully fill the fetal membrane, which is a typical defect that needs to be detected at the injection stage. Other defects include the filling or partial blockage of connector jacks (which must be kept clean and unblocked so that pins can be inserted correctly during final assembly).
4. Assembly
The last process of usb connector manufacturing is assembly. The company employees will be the above several processes of the production of semi-finished products with high-speed assembly terminal machine continuous and rapid assembly into a finished product.
5. Check and store
Next, our quality control engineers will use various quality inspection systems to detect various possible defects in the above four production processes. The limit test and verification of their performance were carried out. Finally, it is packed and stored.
